The Player Development Programme consists of four stages: The PLAYER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME is structured to ensure each player is working at their correct level of training & learning for their current stage of development, whilst constantly challenging and encouraging the player’s progress. We create a Player Development Plan for all of our players where we make projections and set targets for the player’s progress.
We operate our own, unique coaching programme developed by Head Coach, Ian Cathro > ‘Master the Ball, Master the Game’. The programme is built on the premise that in order to ‘Master the Game’, you must first ‘Master the Ball’. The key to the success of the programme is ensuring the players work to the correct priority for their current stage of development. This is illustrated (above) to display the changes in priority as the player advances through the youth development years and into the professional / adult game. The first task for every player is to ‘Master the Ball’, develop quality feel, rhythm & posture on the ball, technical fluency, a vast range of Skills & Moves, techniques and to play with freedom, creativity, imagination & a smile! As we progress through the years the priorities will change as we begin our work on ‘Master the Game’. However, we must stress that without the ‘Master the Ball’ ability you can never truly ‘Master the Game’ as your feet will not enough answers for the questions the game will present. |
